Edward Sanderson

Edward Sanderson is the Executive Director of the Rhode Island Historical Preservation & Heritage Commission. He has served as RIHPHC Executive Director for the last 30 years; throughout that time he also served as SHPO or Deputy SHPO.  In addition to directing the work of the RIHPHC, he was elected President of the national organization of state historic preservation officers and has served as a member of the United States Advisory Council on Historic Preservation and on committees of the National Park Service Advisory Board. In 2015, Governor Gina M. Raimondo appointed Edward Sanderson as the State Historic Preservation Officer.
